CLARENDON RESIDENTS TAKE NOTICE that the Town Board is seeking to fill a seat on the Board of Assessment Review. This is a 5-year term; to expire 9/30/2027. Qualifications include: Must be a resident of Clarendon and have knowledge of property values in the assessing unit. Real estate background would be helpful. New York State prescribed Training and Certification is required (consists of one evening); annually attend all grievance hearings to hear complaints regarding assessments. Send written letter of application/intent to Clarendon Town Clerk, PO Box 145, Clarendon, NY 14429 or deliver it to the Town Hall during normal business hours. Deadline for application is March 15, 2023.
The Assessment Board of Review consists of three (3) members who are appointed by the Town Board. The purpose of such Board is to act as an independent body to hear and decide assessment complaints which are brought before them, according to the Real Property Tax Law and the Board’s established procedures.
